Black Celebrity Weddings in the Media Are Good For Business

Some would say that the African American wedding traditions are alive and well. Others feel that with the growing divorce rates, fewer couples are tying the knot especially those of color.

According to the Black Voices:  These celebrity weddings could have a positive effect on African Americans, who are less likely than any other group in the United States to get married. Dr. Shane Perrault, marriage counselor and African American relationships expert, told Black Voices that high-profile black marriages like Barack and Michelle Obama’s are good for the community. “Celebrity or not, when you are preparing to marry someone you should disclose any type of financial obligations that will impact the marriage,” Dr. Taffy Wagner, owner of Money Talk Matters and author of ‘Debt Dilemma,’ told Black Voices. “Just because the person wasn’t involved the financial decision at the time, doesn’t mean they won’t be affected by the financial consequences.”  Learn more..
